Carlee Jackson, a true force of nature, is making waves in the world of marine biology with her unrelenting passion for sharks. Known as a trailblazer among her peers, Carlee has dedicated her life to unraveling the mysteries of these magnificent creatures while sharing her passion through education, outreach and speaking engagements.

Biography

As a dedicated shark researcher and co-founder of Minorities in Shark Sciences (MISS), Carlee is dedicated to challenging the traditional image of a shark scientist and embracing her own authenticity. With unwavering determination, Carlee is on a mission to redefine what a shark scientist "looks like."

Carlee is a co-founder and the Director of Communications for Minorities in Shark Sciences (MISS), an organization dedicated to advancing shark sciences by increasing accessibility to underrepresented communities. Carlee was the recipient of the 2022 Justice in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion award by the Florida Marine Science Educators Association and makes appearances in National Geographic Channel’s Sharkfest. She is also a published author of two children’s books on sharks and sea turtles. Her research interests mainly revolve around the different ways sharks and humans interact and how this effects shark behavior. She is very passionate about field work, research, and sharing her passions through science communication. Carlee hopes to inspire more diversity in marine science and spark a passion for sharks and the ocean in others!
